Code Compliance

The pb2 code department currently consists of six team members. Our primary goal is to insure all code requirements are met for a particular project. Often, we review the plans to ensure there is no delay in the permit process. We also respond to questions and/or code comments from a particular jurisdiction as they arise on a specific project. On a daily basis, we field and assist with code issues as they relate to the project in the production and construction administration phases.

pb2 code department makes all necessary contact with consultants and jurisdictions and communicates back to the team leader as required to ensure the project team has accurate information in which to proceed.

Research plays a significant role in the department's ability to work with the project team and the various jurisdictions to present a credible case when required. On a daily basis the research includes code issues such as egress, fire separation, accessibility, occupancy classification of different areas of a building, room finishes, etc. Additionally, more detailed research may include the review of cut sheets and manufacturer specifications for various products, making sure that the product meets the intent of the code requirements for the jurisdiction, establishing proper justification when necessary, and recognizing nuances that will need to be addressed within a particular area.
